Why?!?!

I know plenty of people do not understand Down Syndrome. I sure didn't before I had my daughter. I can perfectly understand that but why do people not think before they say something?!
I remember when Catalina was a lot younger. Regardless of her being two years older than her sister, they could have easily passed for twins due to size. I was grocery shopping with the girls in Walmart and had a lady come up to me and ask if she could pray for me. I was a little puzzled at the request but said sure. She put her hand on Catalina's forehead and started asking God to please protect her, watch over her, etc. Then she proceeded to tell me how sorry she was. Why?! I don't want anyone to be sorry for me or for Catalina.
I know the lady wasn't trying to be mean but I can't even begin to explain the way it made me feel. It still bothers me to this day.
Have you ever had anyone say something about your child that just struck you the wrong way?
