Why Up Syndrome?

A while ago I read a story on the National Down Syndrome Society's website. It was a story written by Adriana Ferretiz. She is the proud mother of an adorable 7 year old boy, Nick, who just happens to have been born with Down Syndrome. She expresses how she was chosen by God to be his mother and how she will always fight his battles for him. While she admits that it is not an easy road, she would not change it for the world. She explains that there is nothing down about Down Syndrome. Having a child with Down Syndrome has made her family stronger and has filled them all with love.

In the beginning, we are all overwhelmed when we are told that our child has Down Syndrome. As time goes on, we learn and grow along with that child. I couldn't agree with Adriana more. There is NOTHING down about having Down Syndrome!
